Tinicum Township has
approximately 95 miles of roads. 62 miles are maintained by the Tinicum
Township Department of Public Works, the remainder is maintained by the PA Dept. of Transportation - PennDOT. Township roads are maintained in an order of priority
established by the Public Works Director to enable the safest and most efficient travel throughout the
township.
TOWNSHIP BRIDGES
When giving directions to moving and delivery van drivers, please remember to choose a
path that won't exceed bridge weight limits. Exceeding these limits damages our
bridges. Click here for a map of Tinicum Township that shows bridge locations and weight/height restrictions. Please remember that Tinicum is home to two historic covered bridges with maximum height restrictions of 9 ft., located on Hollow Horn (near Cafferty Road) and Geigel Hill Road (between Upper Tinicum Church and Headquarters Road) and one on Uhlerstown Hill (near River Road) with a maximum height restriction of 11 ft.
The following is a listing of Tinicum Township bridges by maintenance responsibility which include posted limits, type of construction, span and restrictions:

TOWNSHIP DIRT & GRAVEL ROADS
The Township maintains a number of dirt and gravel roads. Ordinance 185 was established to protect these roads by establishing width and weight restrictions. The average width of these roads is 12 feet and should not be used by vehicles exceeding 8 feet in width. Additionally, heavy trucks can damage the road surface. There is weight limit of 15 tons between Jan. 1 and May 31 and a weight limit of 30 tons between June 1 and Dec. 31 of any year. Click here for a map of Tinicum Township dirt & gravel roads.
